RANZCR Launches Regional and Rural Training Pathway Pilot Program

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) proudly launches the new Regional and Rural Training Pathway (RRTP) Pilot today. This is the first step in delivering on RANZCR’s commitment to developing a long-term, sustainable training pathway to grow the clinical radiology and radiation oncology workforce for regional and rural Australia.

There is an uneven distribution of clinical radiologists and radiation oncologists across the country. The RRTP is a fully integrated national training pathway, offering an initial five training positions for medical graduates and trainees at accredited training sites in regional and rural areas. Through a matching process, RANZCR will offer successful candidates a scholarship that covers all training and examination fees for up to 5 years of RANZCR’s training programs via the RRTP. This pathway also presents opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates to access regional and rural training aligned with Indigenous community needs.
