Expressions of interest are being called for two positions for a three-year term beginning 1 January 2024 and concluding 31 December 2026

  • Chief Accreditation Officer
  • Deputy Chief Accreditation Officer

The role of the Chief Accreditation Officer is a key member of the Radiation and Oncology Education and Training Committee (ROETC). The ROETC is responsible for the oversight of the Radiation Oncology Training Committee. The role of the ROETC is to develop and oversee the educational content, assessments and accreditation mechanisms that ensure trainees can become competent Radiation Oncologists. The Committee also has responsibility for assessing the suitability of candidates for Fellowship (including International Medical Graduates). The Role of the Deputy Chief Accreditation Officer is to support the Chief Accreditation Officer.

Role
The Chief Accreditation Officer shall:

  • Attend all meetings of the ROETC;
  • Manage processes for the accreditation of training networks (and their training sites) including conducting site visits and the ongoing monitoring of training networks’ compliance with Faculty training requirements;
  • Make recommendations to the ROETC regarding the suitability of sites to provide training; and
  • Participate in development of standards for the training network accreditation criteria.

Commitment

Attendance at accreditation visits or delegate duties to other accreditation panel members as appropriate; to be available 2-5 hours per week for consultation with College staff regarding administration activities and attendance at all ROETC meetings.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to Radiation Oncology Fellows however, several attributes are expected to facilitate the fulfilment of the role, including:

Essential Attributes:

  • A Fellow or Life member of the Faculty of Radiation Oncology
  • Actively involved in an accredited teaching and training program
  • Experience in areas of radiation oncology, in addition to clinical work (e.g. education
  • training, management, governance, RANZCR)
  • A skilled evaluator and good communicator
  • Available to travel interstate and overseas
  • Prepared to undertake training as Chief Accreditation Officer, and attend at least one site

visit as an observer before commencement in the role.

Chief Accreditation Officer
Applications will be reviewed by the Chief Censor for consideration, pending advice from ROETC and approval from the Faculty Council.

Deputy Chief Accreditation Officer
Applications will be submitted to ROETC for consideration and in the case of 2 or nominations a presentation at ROETC will be expected. The ROETC will make a recommendation to Faculty Council.
