Expressions of interest are open to Fellows in Clinical Radiology for the appointment of Chief Censor in Clinical Radiology. This role oversees all aspects of training and assessment conducted as part of the Clinical Radiology Training program and provides general guidance and direction to the educational, training and research activities of the Faculty of Clinical Radiology.

The Chief Censor is:

  1. The Chair of the Clinical Radiology Education and Training Committee (CRETC).
  2. An ex-officio member of all sub-committees of CRETC.
  3. A member of the Clinical Radiology Faculty Council (FCR).

Commitment

  1. Average one day per month attendance at the College.
  2. To be available one day per week for consultation with College staff regarding administration activities.
  3. Attendance at all Faculty Council meetings.
  4. Attendance at all CRETC meetings.
  5. Attendance at all Part 2 Viva Examinations.
  6. Participation in CRETC sub-committee meetings as needed.
  7. Attendance at the Annual Scientific Meeting.

CRETC, Council and other reporting Committee meetings alternate between in person and online.  

Eligibility criteria 

  1. At least five (5) years post FRANZCR.
  2. An experienced educator/examiner with a passion for excellence in education and training and in the rigour of the examination process.
  3. Ideally working in the public practice with an understanding and/ or experience in the assessment of International Medical Graduates.  
  4. The Faculty of Clinical Radiology By-Laws allow any Fellow or Life Member of the Faculty of Clinical Radiology to be nominated as Chief Censor, subject to a decision by the Faculty Council regarding the appointment. However, a number of key desirable attributes are expected to facilitate the fulfilment of the role, including:
    • Willingness and ability to dedicate an average of one day per week to the role (and supported by their employer to do so).
    • Availability to travel overseas and interstate.
    • Experience in College activities – e.g., previously an Education and Training committee member, past or current experience as a College examiner and/or Director of Training.
    • Active involvement in an accredited teaching and training program.
    • A skilled evaluator and good communicator.
    • Strong understanding of the medical, educational, operational, regulatory and political environment in which the College operates.
    • Highly developed leadership skills across a broad range of relationships including staff, Fellows and trainees, and external stakeholders.
    • Experience in public speaking, senior representation and high-level negotiation skills.

The Chief Censor is eligible to serve up to two terms, the incumbent is eligible to apply for another term.

To be appointed as Chief Censor, a Fellow must be willing to devote the time needed to the job. However, administrative support will be provided by the College. For full details please see the position description.
