Expressions of interest are being called for the position Chief of Professional Practice for the Faculty of Clinical Radiology

The Chief of Professional Practice is responsible for providing guidance and oversight of the development, implementation and review of post-fellowship education, standards and enhancement of professional development including recognition and certification of subspecialty programs within the Faculty discipline.

The Chief of Professional Practice is the Lead Clinician for the AMC and MCNZ Accreditation of the College as a CPD Home and works closely with the Chief of Professional Practice for Radiation Oncology where the work of both the Faculty of Clinical Radiology Professional Practice Committee (FCR PPC) and the Faculty of Radiation Oncology Professional Practice Committee (FRO PPC) overlap.

The Chief of Professional Practice is also responsible for the development, implementation and/or review of processes for accreditation of courses to support the ongoing learning and professional development of Members, CPD Participants and Associates.

The Chief of Professional Practice works and liaises with the College’s Special Interest Groups.

The Chief of Professional Practice will sit on the Faculty of Clinical Radiology Council and Chair the FCR PPC. The Chief of Professional Practice will undertake the role of representing the Dean and the Faculty as requested by the Dean. 

The term of the Chief of Professional Practice is three (3) years.

Time Commitment 

To be available one day per fortnight for consultation with college staff regarding ongoing and emerging matters for the PPC. 

  • Attendance at all FCR PPC meetings     
  • Attendance at all FRO PPC meetings  
  • Attendance at all Faculty of Clinical Radiology Council meetings  
  • Attendance at the Annual Scientific Meeting.   
  • Flexibility will be provided for online attendance where possible.  

Important Attributes  

The FCR By-Laws allow any Fellow or Life Member of the FCR to be appointed as Chief of Professional Practice. This is subject to a decision regarding the appointment by the Faculty Council. The Chief of Professional Practice must be at least 5 years post-FRANZCR.

Desirable attributes to facilitate fulfilment of the role include but are not limited to:   

  • Available to travel overseas and interstate, when required.
  • Experience in College activities such as previous committee member or a previous committee chair. 
  • Experience in other similar environments.
  • Academic skills with experience in adult education and learning. 
  • Evaluation and analytical skills and ability to communicate well.
  • Strong understanding of the medical, educational, operational, regulatory and political environments in which the College operates.  
  • Highly developed leadership skills across a broad range of relationships including staff, Fellows and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in public speaking, senior representation and high-level negotiation skills.
