Expressions of Interest are being called for New Zealand members to join the Targeting Cancer Reference Panel

Expressions of Interest are being called for the Targeting Cancer Reference Panel. Radiation Oncology’s Targeting Cancer is the Faculty’s flagship campaign to raise awareness among the cancer community and health professionals that radiation therapy is an effective, safe and sophisticated treatment for cancer.

The Targeting Cancer Reference Panel has been formed to assist and implement projects and activities relating to the Targeting Cancer campaign.

We are looking for New Zealand members who have innovative ideas and are keen to continue this valuable work.

The objectives of the Targeting Cancer Reference Panel include:

  • To assist in promoting, the practice of radiation oncology and accessible and affordable patient care.
  • To allow consideration of a variety of perspectives– including (but not limited to) consumers, radiation oncologists, radiation oncology trainees (at various levels), radiation therapists, radiation oncology medical physicists, radiation oncology nurses, College staff and industry representatives.
  • To act as a channel for the Targeting Cancer campaign to collaborate with members and non-members.
  • To support local engagement with the Targeting Cancer campaign (e.g., through general practitioner education evenings, Targeting Cancer fun runs and other activities).
  • To provide support to the Targeting Cancer Management Committee in the review and development of resources.
  • To support the Targeting Cancer campaign in raising awareness of the current underutilisation of radiation therapy at internal and external events (e.g. conferences, exhibitions, meetings).
  • To support the Targeting Cancer campaign’s media (traditional and social) activities.

Commitment

The Reference Panel will communicate via email on an ongoing basis, supplemented by teleconferences. 

Eligibility criteria

RANZCR is calling on one New Zealand Fellow or ROA representative (a member of ASMIRT, ACPSEM, CNSA) and up to two New Zealand Fellows or ROA representatives to join as members of the Reference Panel. The benefit of this group comes from collaboration between the various groups within the radiation therapy space.
