New studies revealed today at the 71st Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), show that using artificial intelligence (AI) can greatly enhance breast cancer detection and diagnosis. Mammography Computer Aided Detection (CAD) with AI shows a 69% reduction in false marks compared to traditional CAD and significantly improved detection of missed breast cancer1.
The study examined 250 digital mammograms and the number of marked regions of interest of the two different systems and compared them for sensitivity and specificity in cancer detection.
