This comprehensive 6.0-hour self-paced online course on anaphylaxis is designed for healthcare professionals who are responsible for the diagnosis and management of anaphylaxis with intravenous access for their patient. The course builds from first principles, is guideline based, and has a strong clinical focus on the radiology setting. This course is accredited with ACRRM for the following CPD hours: • 3.5hrs Educational Activity • 1.0hr Performance Review • 1.5hrs Outcome Measurement There are 5 modules divided into 9 segments which are approximately 30 minutes each. The modules are: • Foundations: Introduction to the concepts in anaphylaxis. • Pathophysiology: Discussion of the 4 pathological processes in anaphylaxis and how they in turn manifest as the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis. • Diagnosis: How to diagnose anaphylaxis in line with peak body guidelines. Discussion also around how to differentiate anaphylaxis from simple allergy and other differential diagnoses. • Management: Discussion of the step-by-step implementation of peak body guidelines for managing a patient with anaphylaxis including sections on paediatrics and pregnant patients. • Case studies: In-depth review and discussion of 19 real case studies, primarily of anaphylaxis, with some simple allergy and the relevant differential diagnoses as well. Here we apply and reinforce the knowledge of the first 4 modules and put it into clinical practice. • Also included is a 6-page Anaphylaxis Management Form (cheat sheet) to aid you in the clinical setting. The course is written and presented by Dr Sue Flanagan who has over 40 years of experience in cardiac testing and 12 years of managing anaphylaxis in a radiology setting. She has taught basic CPR to doctors, both specialists and GPS as well as allied health professionals since 1984. She has been teaching anaphylaxis as a dedicated course since 2012.
