This position statement supports attempts to improve patient awareness of, and access to, uterine fibroid embolisation as an effective, minimally invasive treatment for symptomatic fibroids. The statement supports the recommendation from the Australian Government Department of Health MBS Review, to remove the requirement for gynaecologist referral for uterine embolisation.
