The concept of a Group to encompass Fellows of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) and Fellows of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) as well as trainees of both Colleges, other registered medical practitioners and non-medical parties, such as radiologists, mortuary technicians and scientists with an interest in post-mortem imaging was proposed in 2016.
